The Arab National Commissions |
|
The National Commissions are the country-level equivalents of the Organization and ensure the permanent presence of the Organization in the member states. They are independent bodies attached to the governments of the member countries and operate in the framework of the long, medium, and short term activities planned by the Organization. The purpose of these commissions is to organize, coordinate, and support cooperation between the Organization and the member states (the Arab ministries, and government technical bodies and institutions of education, culture and science), to contribute to the preparation of the Organization’s general policies and long-term and short-term plans, and to the implementation of the Organization’s programs at the country and Arab-wide levels in order to set the foundations and empowerment of the comprehensive Arab unity, based on the first joint Arab action accord (1945) and the Charter of Cultural Unity (1964). The national commissions are therefore, advisory, communication, information, and implementation bodies, and constitute the main partners in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the Organization’s programs and projects. They also contribute effectively to providing information on the Organization’s objectives, expand the scope of its influence, and encourage the implementation of the Organization’s programs and activities with the participation of the intellectual and scientific circles. In addition, they represent the basic links and channels of communication between the Organization and the member states.
